Timeless Transformation: Black Adam Cosplayer Envisions Adrianna Tomaz in Iconic Isis Attire

Latina Cosplayer Lis Wonder turns into the DC superhero Isis as she imagines what Isis might have looked as in the DCU film Black Adam.

Lis Wonder has speculated on what the Black Adam character Adrianna Tomaz could look like in the DCU film as her superpowered alter ego, Isis.

The Latina cosplayer recently shared some photos of herself in a comics-accurate Isis on Twitter. “I loved #BlackAdam and JSA… I would like to see more! I want Isis! Wonder was added to the photos. This was an amazing project. I love my [Berserker Customs] custom made 3D Isis jewelry!” Isis the human version of Adrianna Tomaz was played by Sarah Shahi in Black Adam in this version of the character depicted as an archaeologist and a resistance fighter in the Intergang-controlled Kahndaq.

Adrianna Tomaz was first seen in DC Comics’ 52#3 (May 2006). She is an imprisoned Egyptian refugee, who is brought to Black Adam by Intergang. Adrianna was able to change the perception of the powerful antihero through spending time with him and allowing him to be freed. In a gesture of gratitude, Black Adam retrieved the Amulet of Isis and had Captain Marvel (now known as Shazam) transfer the power to Adrianna who was able to exercise control over the various aspects of nature. While Black Adam was Adrianna’s debut live-action feature, the character and the superhero that portrayed it, Captain Marvel (now named Shazam), were previously portrayed by Erica Cerra and Tala Ashe DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Black Adam Characters may be included in spinoff films

As Shahi’s Adrianna Tomaz remains powerless within DCU, Black Adam star and producer Dwayne John hinted at the possibility of future spinoff films that will depict the transformation of Tomaz into Isis. “We have a few ideas of what characters people are likely to be receptive to in Black Adam, and we’re already looking ahead: ‘Let’s begin planning for that film, and what that movie looks like for those who love them,’” Johnson said in August 2022. Other Black Adam characters who could be given their own films are Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone which appeared in the movie as Justice Society members.

Black Adam has already earned more than $350 million worldwide after just four weeks of being in theaters. A sequel is being planned and plans are underway for a Black Adam movie which will see Johnson’s antihero take on Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel. But, it is unlikely for fans to watch the twotwo DC titans clash anytime soon , since Johnson recently admitted that they’ve got “a number of years of storytelling to do before that historic DCEU showdown and more new characters to establish (before the fight between Superman and Black Adam].”

Black Adam is currently playing in theaters.
