Avengers: Secret Wars Could Be a Two-Part Movie Event, According to Report

Marvel is said to be mulling the idea of dividing Avengers: Secret Wars into two films, with one to be announced in the upcoming Phase 7.

Marvel fans might need to wait a while longer for Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios is reportedly in talks about splitting the superhero epic that is set to release in two films, which would delay the second half until the seventh phase.

According to Inside the Magic reliable sources have said that Marvel Studios is reconsidering how best to release Secret Wars. One of the options is to split the forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe installment into two films. If Marvel decides to go with this option, Secret Wars Part II and the end of the Multiverse Saga will be delayed “a few years”. Rumors suggesting that Marvel Studios was thinking about changing the planned blockbuster into two parts were first reported on February 20, 2023. These rumors have been floating online since February 2023. Disney and Marvel Studios have not yet responded to the rumors. Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to debut on the big screen on May 1st, 2026.

Avengers: Secret Wars was unveiled at 2022’s San Diego Comic-Con and is expected to serve as the direct sequel to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The plot details for the forthcoming Avengers sequels remain in the dark, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is believed to have an antagonistic part in The Kang Dynasty. Strange is now a major player in The Multiverse Saga. His most recent film, Doctor Strange, was set in the Multiverse of Madness and seems to have established the Secret Wars storyline. The film’s closing credits scene in 2022 mentioned an impending “incursion,” a term taken from the 2015 Secret Wars comic book that serves to describe two worlds that are about to collide. Michael Waldron is the screenwriter for Avengers. Marvel Is focusing on Quality Over Quantity

While the first three phases of the MCU — referred to collectively as The Infinity Saga — were generally well-received from reviewers and fans alike, the same couldn’t be said about the recently ended Phase 4, which received mixed reviews. Following “internal negative feedback” concerning the distribution and quality, Marvel Studios is reportedly reviewing its slate for the upcoming season with a greater concentration on quality rather than quantity. Although it isn’t confirmed, this new commitment to delivering the highest quality product that is possible is the reason Marvel is considering the splitting of Avengers: Secret Wars into two separate films as well as extending The Multiverse Saga through an additional phase. This decision has already been a factor in Echo and Ironheart as well as Agatha and the Coven of Chaos.
